Bowls: Natural Edge Cherry

One of the many variations of bowls are the natural edge type. These bowls are typically turned while green and incorporate the bark of the wood in it's rim. This bowl measures 8" and is turned to a uniform thickness of 1/4".

To envision the orientation of the bowl in the tree it's turned from, rotate the image of the bowl 90* in your mind. The bark is the outside of the tree while the darker wood is the heartwood from near the center of the tree. These bowls often appear ovoid in shape although they are generally perfectly round due to the curvature of the tree itself.
